PROGRAM - REVIT
This project here is re-creating the Hyundai Premium Outlet Space1 Cube, located in Dasan New Town, Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do, created by Betwin Space Design. This is focusing on recreating a building with a grid structure.
"It is the first gallery-type outlet in Korea, and adds cultural and artistic elements such as art galleries and parks. Its name “SPACE 1” also took the first letter of “Shopping, Play, Art, Culture, Experience” and added “1” with the meaning of one. The overall design direction was also “Everyone’s Holiday”, establishing its identity as 'a holiday for everyone'."

The space on the first floor is designed by patterning external flooring materials as a transfer space that connects outdoor gardens and indoor stores. The outdoor shade structure and CUBE are combined to make the ceiling design look outstanding.

The first two floor plans were supplied by ArchDaily, where the upper two plans were created based on how the building could function. Overall, it's mainly a glass box attached to the perimeter concrete columned structure. The idea of the floor system is originally thought to be a concrete floor diaphragm vs a traditionally steel framed structure, as head height with a concrete structure could become complicated if done in a way mimicking steel. This would allow for more flexibility in terms of earthquake design. Conceptually understanding how the structure is designed helps understand how this space was thought to be used, as structural dead loads and live loads vary depending on floor.
Essentially modeling the building based off of images and two floor plans was actually very enlightening to understand how the structure relates to the space, while also the context around it being in such a busy area. It almost is like a monument itself, something to admire when walking by, as the surrounding architecture does not follow in terms of style, but rather compliments the big glass box seen here.
